First Barbecue of the Summer!

Last week we threw our first barbecue of the summer! The weather has been getting warmer, and the days longer. Everything went incredibly well, and things were wonderful. We’ll be having some more too! As soon as the pool is ready to rock, it’s on.

Check out some photos of my radical friends 🙂

E-40

I was hired to shoot the Wild 102.9 spring jam concert this past friday at Grand Sierra Resort here in Reno. I grabbed my all access pass at the door and then ran around shooting the “Cinco de Drinko” event GSR was having before I went into the show. This was a little bit of a bummer, since it wasn’t particularly exciting stuff to photograph. But metromix hired me to cover both events (for one price no less) so I had to do it.

Fortunately the all access pass was worth all the other nonsense because there were barely any other photographers shooting. After E-40 played, I walked with him backstage then waited 45 minutes outside his dressing room while he relaxed from the show. I finally got in there and was greeted with “Before you shoot any pictures you gotta take a shot!” Turns out Big Omeezy of E-40 is a fan of sharing the Hennnessy. Soon I was confronted with half a glass of the cognac. “You sure you don’t want me to sip on this Hen?” I asked. To no avail. So… down the hatch. Dudes were so stoked. Omeezy was like, “ohhhhhhhhhhh sheeeiiiiiiit dog! Lemmie give you my number, you aiiight.”

Then to business. E-40 introduced me to his lovely wife and everyone was super friendly. I ended up hanging out for about 10 minutes and made a few portraits that I’m happy with.

Here are a couple, along with some live shots of E-40 and Pitbull.

As a side note, I’ve never seen so many dressed up latina girls losing their minds over a singer. Dude is like the Cuban Elvis or something.

I felt like doing a little self assigned work this week and put together a product shoot or two. I love making things look their best, and there’s something really satisfying about nailing the lighting and composition.

Here’s one of the new portfolio pieces.

Model Portfolio Photos

This is Madeline Nelson. She is a professional model. If you are aspiring to be a model or need new photos for your book, I am the best thing for you. Don’t waste time on some “guy with a camera” who doesn’t have what it takes to craft technically perfect images. This is your career, and you should invest in it.

I’m booking appointments to shoot new portfolio pieces for fashion models. Contact me for details, as things are booking up for December!

Shooting Photos for TV Commercials

This is the final vesion of the television spot that I photographed the stills for. It was a solid project from start to finish, and I’m quite pleased with the results.

The commercial starts airing Tuesday on a variety of tv channels, so keep an eye out.

Huge thanks to Jason Newmark for doing a fantastic job putting together the photos and motion graphics. Thanks to Sterling Doak for great creative direction and production. It was a pleasure.

Last week I made it out to the opening of Ron Rash‘s new show of original paintings, skateboards, lunch sacks, and glicee prints, entitled JOY.

It was the first time I had been to the Silverland Gallery, which is kind of a fun space on the third floor of the St. Mary’s Art Center (owners of the world’s worst flash animation intro) in Virginia City.

The building itself is easily 100 years old, probably more. I was accompanied by my good friends Doug Moore and Jim Read, who kept things lively by being legit dudes, and having great conversation over beer and wine. All in all a great night.
